NFL scout says Bengals QB Joe Burrow has ‘Russell Wilson traits’

The Cincinnati Bengals put together a league-worst 2-14 record during the 2019 NFL season. That was enough to win the Joe Burrow sweepstakes and now. After an electric final season with LSU, he will look to make a major impact at the next level–similar to what Russell Wilson has become for the Seattle Seahawks.

The Bengals will not be waiting to put their elite quarterback prospect on the field for game-action. Burrow will be the starter for Cincinnati in Week 1 when the team takes on the Los Angeles Chargers.

According to The Athletic NFL Staff, an NFL scout expressed his belief that Joe Burrow has ‘Russell Wilson traits’ based on his tape at LSU when discussing the Bengals ahead of the 2020 season.

“I’m not saying he’s Russell Wilson, but I think Joe Burrow has Russell Wilson traits. He’s super smart. He’s pretty mobile, and his accuracy on the college tape is outstanding.”

When watching Burrow play, it’s clear he has dynamic elements to his game. He has an ability to launch tough throws off difficult platforms without having his accuracy being hindered much. The ability to extend plays and operate outside the pocket has been vital for Wilson.

With talents like A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins at wide receiver with Joe Mixon in the backfield, there are intriguing options for Burrow to work with in the Bengals’ offense. In a tough AFC North, he will need every bit of help he can get considering the defenses he will have to face.

It will be fascinating to track the level of success Joe Burrow can achieve throughout his NFL career. If he can end up having an impact emblematic to Russell Wilson, consider that a major win for the Cincinnati Bengals.
