The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the NFL’s most pleasant surprises over the first quarter of the season, getting off to a 3-1 start and sitting in first place in the NFC South.
Many are waiting for the shoe to drop in Tampa, but the Buccaneers have not shown any signs of slowing down thus far.
Regardless, Tampa Bay could certainly use some upgrades ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline, so it would behoove the Bucs to make a move or two to bolster their roster in the coming weeks.
One significant area of weakness for the Buccaneers is their ground attack, as they rank 25th in the league in rushing offense and are actually last in the NFL in yards per carry.
NFL NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Updates
In turn, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports thinks Tampa Bay would make a great landing spot for Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.
Henry was unable to reach a long-term agreement with the Titans before the season, meaning he will be a free agent at the end of the year.
Tennessee is 2-3 thus far, but even though it plays in the very winnable AFC South, the club hasn’t displayed any real indication that it is a serious contender this season. The Titans may end up going into rebuilding mode in the spring, and with Henry being 29 years old, he doesn’t really fit their timeline.
NFL NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Updates
Taking all of those things into consideration, it makes sense that Tennessee would seriously think about moving Henry before the end of the month.
While Henry may no longer be the same 2,000-yard halfback from a few years ago, he would be an obvious upgrade over what the Bucs already have in their backfield, and he would certainly further open up a Buccaneers aerial attack that has actually been pretty solid in the early going.
