The Case for Amari Cooper
The Dallas Cowboys didn’t throw the most in the NFL, but it could be argued that they did the passing game better than any other team in the league. Nothing that the Cowboys did in the offseason suggests that this will change.
In fact, with the addition of CeeDee Lamb to the Cowboys’ receiving corps, Dallas might decide to match their passing efficiency with a little more volume. Meaning more targets for Lamb and the returning Michael Gallup, yes, but also the potential for increased volume heading towards Amari Cooper.
But even if Cooper’s targets total remains stagnant at around 100-120, the Cowboys’ receiver has shown that he doesn’t need a ton of catches to do some damage. At over 15 yards per catch last season, Cooper was able to nearly break 1,200 yards on just under 80 catches.
With efficiency like that and an impressive eight touchdowns to go along with it, Cooper should still be the Cowboys’ undisputed top target for 2020, even with Gallup and Lamb by his side competing for targets.
