Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes have found their quarterback through the transfer portal in Will Howard.

Howard is fresh off an impressive season at Kansas State, where he showcased his skills. He completed 61.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,643 yards, notching 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Additionally, the Pennsylvania native exhibited his dual-threat abilities by accumulating 351 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Howard opened up about his decision to join Ohio State, expressing his ambitions of competing for a national championship.

He stated, “When I started talking to Ohio State, everything kind of lined up. I had a list of things I was looking for, in terms of needing to go somewhere where there was a lot of talent around me and somewhere I could compete for a national championship.”

Furthermore, Howard is excited about the Ohio State Buckeye’s pro-style offense, which aligns with his playing style.

“Talking to Coach Day about the scheme, I got excited. Kansas State is very pro-style and gets you ready for the pros better than most programs in the country. I didn’t want to lose any of that momentum. When Coach Day and I met and went through the scheme, I’m a total football nerd and talk ball all day. We hit it off in that way. I knew that was the system that would get me the most prepared for that level.”

Howard had a significant role in helping Kansas State secure a Big 12 title in 2022, and now he aims to lead Ohio State to similar success, possibly even clinching a conference championship and more in 2024.

It will be interesting to see how the pairing of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Will Howard goes next season.
