Former Texas quarterback Casey Thompson is gearing up for an eventful seventh season in the world of football in 2024. In an exciting development, Thompson recently announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners for his final year of eligibility.

It is anticipated that he will serve as the backup to the talented freshman quarterback, Jackson Arnold.

Casey Thompson’s journey in collegiate football began in 2018 as a highly-rated four-star recruit, and he initially played for the University of Texas. However, in 2021, he made the decision to enter the transfer portal, leading him to spend a year at Nebraska and then another year at Florida Atlantic. Unfortunately, injuries posed challenges along the way.

What makes Thompson’s upcoming season even more remarkable is his age. Turning 26 years old in the midst of the season, he will undoubtedly be one of the most seasoned players in the college football arena.

Thompson’s remarkable story is also intertwined with the unique circumstances of his eligibility.

He was granted an additional year of eligibility due to a combination of injuries and the COVID-related exception. This adds an intriguing dimension to the narrative, particularly considering the possibility of Thompson facing his former team, Texas, in the highly anticipated Red River Rivalry match in 2024.

The stage is set for a captivating chapter in Casey Thompson’s football journey.
