Ty Thompson has made a decisive move in his collegiate football career, with the talented former Oregon Ducks quarterback opting to join the Tulane Green Wave, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The news broke with the following announcement from Thamel: “Sources: Oregon transfer quarterback Ty Thompson has committed to Tulane. He’s a Top 75 overall recruit in Class of 2021. He appeared in 17 games during his three seasons at Oregon and is a former. He has two years of eligibility remaining.”

This decision marks a significant turning point for Thompson, who had entered the transfer portal in search of increased playing time. His prospects look promising at Tulane, especially since the Green Wave’s starting quarterback, Michael Pratt, declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, leaving a coveted opening at the quarterback position.

During his three-season stint with the Oregon Ducks, Thompson showcased his talent by completing 64 percent of his passes. Over this period, he amassed 456 passing yards, along with six touchdowns and four interceptions.

His performance indicated that he was ready to take the reins, potentially becoming the starting quarterback for the Ducks in 2024, especially with Bo Nix heading to the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, a twist of fate occurred when the former Oklahoma quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, decided to commit to Tulane’s football program. This unexpected development added another layer of intrigue to Thompson’s decision.

It appears that Thompson is now set to embark on a new chapter with the Green Wave, where he’ll compete for the starting quarterback position and aim to make his mark on the collegiate football landscape.

In joining Tulane, Ty Thompson brings a wealth of potential and experience, and his journey will undoubtedly be closely watched by football enthusiasts eager to see how he performs in his new football home.
