2. Improve Depth at Receiver
There is no reason for the Packers not to improve their receiving corps during the offseason. Their 13-3 finish in 2019 is actually amazing when you look at the players that Rodgers was throwing the ball to.
Adams had another strong campaign. He played 12 games and finished with 997 yards and five touchdowns. Allen Lazard was second on the team in receiving with 477 yards. Jones finished third followed by Marquez Valdes-Scantling. All of this information did not make the front office realize that they should add a big name pass catcher.
The Packers did not draft a receiver in any round in the 2020 NFL Draft. They signed Devin Funchess to a one-year, prove-it deal after he missed 2019 with a collarbone injury. This leaves Adams, Funchess, and Lazard as the top three receivers on the depth chart. Off the bench, the Packers have Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown. At tight end, the Packers are relying on Jace Sternberger and the veteran presence of Marcedes Lewis.
This does not sound like the skill position group of a 13-3 team. It just goes to show how important a quarterback is on a football team.
