3. Low Risk, High Reward
The Bengals and Green are not expected to come to an agreement on a contract extension before the deadline. This means that Green will play the 2020 season under the franchise tag for around $17 million. He has spoken out against playing under the franchise tag.
For Green Bay, adding Green can be looked at as a low risk, high reward situation. Green turns 32 on July 31. He missed the entire 2019 season with ligament damage in his ankle and played just nine games in 2018.
Green totaled 694 yards and six touchdowns that year. His injury history brings a risk, but it should not be enough to scare the Packers away. Green is a seven-time Pro Bowler and finished with 1,000 or more yards in six of his first seven years in the league.
The reward is high. If Green can stay on the field, he is a difference maker. The Packers could add an elite talent, which would help their offense keep up in the very competitive NFC.
