Packers: 3 ways Christian Kirksey can impact the Green Bay defense

1. Christian Kirksey Is A Tackling Machine, And A Capable Pass Rusher

With the additions of Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith last offseason, the Packers beefed up their pass rush in a big way. Kirksey may not be viewed as a big addition in that area, but his speed and athleticism will allow him to get to the quarterback should Pettine ask him to rush.

Losing a sure tackler like Martinez isn’t easy either, but Kirksey has a great track record of making tackles as well. As previously mentioned, he racked up 138 total tackles in the last full season he played. If he stays healthy, he should be able to come close to that number or exceed it.

Green Bay is getting a very versatile linebacker in Kirksey. He came on a cheap deal and could end up being a major steal.

This move may be flying under the radar, but it is a move that Gutekunst and the Packers’ front office feels very good about.
