Next up, we already touched on the need that the Packers had for an athletic inside linebacker. Kirksey will have the ability to make plays across the field, which will make the Green Bay defense much more capable of defending the run.

Against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, the Packers were unable to stop the outside run. They gave up big play after big play to the 49ers’ running backs. Kirksey will help slow that down.

That isn’t saying that Kirksey will be the one move fix for the issue. However, the Packers are going to be much more capable of defending against faster offenses that like to utilize the outside run.
