The Baltimore Ravens fell short in the playoffs once again this winter, and now, linebacker Patrick Queen will have to ponder his future.

Queen is slated to hit free agency this offseason, and he isn’t sure whether or not he will be returning to the only NFL franchise he has ever called home.

While Queen acknowledges that he wants to stay with the Ravens, he also understands the business side of things.

“Of course. This is where I started,” Queen said, via Baltimore’s official YouTube account. “Definitely would be nice to come back, but, at the same time, I’ve got to do what’s best for me, best for my family. And then they’ve got to do what’s best for them on the other side as well.”

Queen, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was selected by the Ravens with the 28th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He hit the ground running during his rookie campaign, registering 106 tackles, three sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries. The following year, he took a bit of a step back, finishing with 98 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Then, in 2022, Queen had a breakout season of sorts, rattling off 117 tackles, five sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

The 24-year-old then enjoyed the best year of his career this season, racking up 133 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and six passes defended. He earned a Pro Bowl selection and was also named a Second-Team All-Pro for his efforts.

Baltimore declined Queen’s fifth-year option before the season.

The Ravens are pretty strapped for cash heading into free agency, so we’ll see if they are able to retain Patrick Queen this March.

Baltimore fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game this past Sunday.
