The New England Patriots are entering a new era of football without Bill Belichick leading the way. Despite that fact, they are not headed for a rebuild. Robert Kraft and company want to win and win now, which could lead them to exploring the free agency market for a new starting quarterback like Kirk Cousins.

Cousins has been connected to the Patriots throughout the course of the 2023 season. He has also been heavily linked to the Atlanta Falcons, who ironically are thought to be the front-runners to hire Belichick.

Unfortunately, the Mac Jones era did not work out for New England. It seems likely that the franchise will trade the young quarterback this offseason.

Bleacher Report recently revealed their prediction for Cousins this offseason. They have Captain Kirk signing with the Patriots.

It certainly makes sense. Cousins would be able to come into New England and immediately improve the quarterback play. However, he is 35 years old and wouldn’t be a super long-term option.

During the 2023 season with the Minnesota Vikings before going down with a torn Achilles, Cousins was putting up a big season. He played in eight games, completing 69.5 percent of his pass attempts for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.

There is no doubt that Kirk Cousins would be a good fit for the Patriots. If they’re looking to win now and building for the future isn’t in their minds with their new quarterback, Cousins could be their guy.

Expect to hear plenty of teams connected to Cousins this offseason. Don’t be shocked if New England is one of them.
