The Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 2 NFL action. It’s a game that many believe will be a very entertaining one. While the Eagles are fresh off of a Week 1 win over the New England Patriots, the Vikings will be a much bigger test.

For the Vikings, they are looking for their first win of the season. They came up short in disappointing fashion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.

Nick Sirianni is aware that the Eagles need to make some changes moving forward. He revealed one of those game-plan changes that he wants to make ahead of Week 2. The Eagles want to get running back D’Andre Swift much more involved than he was last week.

“He’ll be in that role sometimes where he carries the load for the game, and he’ll be in the role sometimes like he was in last game. Again, we don’t ever want to come out with him only having those many touches. That’s just kind of how the flow went in the game. We had things called for him, but sometimes the ball doesn’t go for him in a certain way. That’s just the way the defense takes it away. Now, you can always get it to him by just handing it off to him, but I see him being able to play any role that he’s in because of the type of back and the skill set that he has.”

Swift is a player that can make a massive play any touch he gets. He has elite speed, quickness, and the ability to be a dual-threat running back.

Kenneth Gainwell is without question the top running back on the depth chart right now. However, he is going to miss the game against the Vikings, which will open up a lot more playing time for Swift. It will be interesting to see what he does with the extended role.

Last season with the Detroit Lions, Swift ended up putting together a decent season. He carried the football 99 times for 542 yards and five touchdowns. In addition to his rushing numbers, he caught 48 passes for 389 yards and another three scores.

The Eagles would be wise to utilize Swift much more. He has the talent and potential to be a big-time playmaker for Philadelphia. Hopefully, he’ll be able to get more touches and be a big part of helping the Eagles the rest of the season.
