Steelers Land CeeDee Lamb In This Blockbuster Trade Proposal

CeeDee Lamb, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be in the market for another wide receiver, and K.D. Drummond of Cowboys Wire thinks they could be a match for CeeDee Lamb.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made some very interesting comments on Lamb recently, hinting that the star wide out could potentially be available.

Of course, Jones didn’t come outright and say that the Cowboys are shopping Lamb or that they are even gauging interest in him, but he seemed rather hesitant to commit to him long term given the massive pay day he is about to receive.

Could this open the door for a team like the Steelers to swoop in and snatch Lamb?

Drummond suggests that Pittsburgh trades a first-round draft pick (No. 20) and a third-rounder (No. 84) to Dallas in exchange for Lamb, which would give the Steelers a rather lethal one-two receiving duo of Lamb and George Pickens.

Why would the Cowboys do this?

It should be noted that in this scenario, Drummond also has Dallas trading quarterback Dak Prescott, so this would signal a rebuild for a Cowboys franchise that is very strapped financially at the current point in time.

But even if Dallas doesn’t move Prescott in a universe where it trades Lamb, moving Lamb would certainly open up some financial flexibility for the Cowboys.

Keep in mind that Dallas needs to pay Prescott, Lamb and edge rusher Micah Parsons, and all three players will command top-of-the-market prices.

Trading Lamb would allow the Cowboys to somewhat comfortably pay both Prescott and Parsons will still having some money left over to spend in other areas.

As for the Steelers, the answer to why they would make this move is obvious.

Pittsburgh traded away fellow wide out Diontae Johnson last month, leaving the club with limited depth behind Pickens at the position. Acquiring Lamb would give incoming quarterback Russell Wilson a couple of terrific options in the aerial attack.

All of that being said, the chances of the Cowboys actually acting on this and trading CeeDee Lamb are slim to none. At this juncture, anyway.
