The upcoming NFL offseason is likely to be full of big roster moves and some stars could potentially be traded as well. One of those stars that could be on the trade block is Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. If the Panthers are open to dealing him, could a team like the Las Vegas Raiders make a big move to acquire him?
Las Vegas would certainly be an intriguing landing spot for McCaffrey. They already have Josh Jacobs, but acquiring McCaffrey would give them a massive upgrade in the backfield.
John Buhler of FanSided listed the Raiders as a potential trade destination for McCaffrey this coming offseason.
One team that could be interested in trading for Christian McCaffrey are the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite being a team playing for the right to get into the AFC playoffs in the final game of the regular season, the Silver and Black have not had a good rushing attack this year. They rank bottom-eighth in the league and could finish near last with a terrible showing in primetime.
As Buhler noted, Jacobs and company have not gotten the job done on the ground. He is a talented back, but the Raiders should not pass up on a talent like McCaffrey if the opportunity presents itself.
Some teams may have interest in McCaffrey, but choose not to pay the price tag for him. There are some concerns surrounding the injury issues that the star running back has dealt with in recent years. However, even though there are concerns, if McCaffrey stays healthy he would change everything for a team like he Raiders.
This season with the Panthers, McCaffrey was only able to play in seven games. He carried the football 99 times for 442 yards and at touchdown. McCaffrey also caught 37 passes for 343 yards and a touchdown.
Back in 2019, his last fully healthy season, the star running back racked up 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. He coupled that with 116 receptions for 1,005 yards and four more receiving touchdowns.
Expect to hear a ton of rumors surrounding Christian McCaffrey this offseason. The Raiders may not end up pursuing him, but they are a team to watch. If Las Vegas wants to make a splash on the offensive side of the ball, they should look no further than McCaffrey.
