The Dallas Cowboys traded down in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, and Fox Sports analyst and known Cowboys fan Skip Bayless was not happy about it.

The Cowboys sent the 24th overall pick and a 2025 seventh-round selection to the Detroit Lions for the 29th pick and a third-rounder (No. 73).

Dallas ended up selecting University of Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton with the pick, but Bayless thinks the Cowboys should have stayed at No. 24 and taken Duke’s Graham Barton.

“The glaring need falls right in your lap at 24. Graham Barton will be a perennial Pro Bowl center,” Bayless said. “No, you’ve got to get cute, you’ve got to get an extra third-round pick.”

Bayless went on to say that he is an Oklahoma fan and doesn’t even like Guyton.

Many had pegged Dallas to take Barton in the first round, so the fact that it moved down a few spots to select Guyton was certainly a disappointment to some.

The Cowboys entered the NFL Draft in serious need of help along their offensive line, so, in a way, they got it with Guyton, and who knows? Maybe Guyton will be a stud.

But nevertheless, this was just the latest questionable decision by a Dallas front office that has drawn endless criticism for its lack of activity this offseason.

Bayless proceeded to label Guyton a “project” and said that he isn’t even sure that he will be ready to start the season opener in 2024.

Of course, the Cowboys still have the rest of the draft to fill any holes, but their first-round pick was the most important one, and Bayless isn’t happy with the way they’ve used it.

We’ll see what Dallas does on Day 2 and beyond.
