McLaurin averaged a robust 9.9 yards per target as a rookie, which tied for 12th-best in the league in that mark. Imagine if he didn’t have Case Keenum and then a struggling Haskins (until late in the season) throwing him the ball.
Even if we assume some regression this year, with the 140 targets built into the projection, McLaurin would have to drop nearly a yard-and-a-half per target to fail to reach 1,200 yards in 2020.
In the seven games started by Haskins last season, McLaurin had 30 receptions for 461 yards. Per 16 games that projects out to 1,054 yards, but let’s assume improvement from Haskins with one established play caller all season and a better catch rate for McLaurin.
