The San Francisco 49ers hammered the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 42-19 in an NFC Championship Game rematch this past Sunday, but the win was marred by an ugly sideline scuffle between the two sides.

The two main culprits were 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw and Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith, with Greenlaw even getting into it with Philadelphia security staff leader Dom DiSandro.

Afterward, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan shared his thoughts on the incident as well as his exchange with Philly head coach Nick Sirianni.

“He was awesome,” Shanahan said of Sirianni, via the Niners’ official team website. “He wasn’t a fan of what had happened on the play either, and he handled it with total class.”

Shanahan was certainly not too happy with what went down and was disappointed in DiSandro.

“I tried my hardest to not lose my mind,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully I didn’t embarrass myself too bad. I didn’t get to see it all from where I’m at, but, when I started hearing people explain it to me and stuff, I just can’t believe someone uninvolved in a football game can taunt our players like that and put their hands in our guy’s face. From what I was told, Dre did it back to [DiSandro], and I was told that he kind of mashed him in the face a little bit, so he got ejected. It was a very frustrating play. I’ve got to watch it to have a true opinion on it.”

Well, Kyle Shanahan can take some solace in the fact that his team absolutely clobbered the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, the same site where the 49ers were destroyed by the Birds last January.

San Francisco got off to a 5-0 start this season but then lost three straight. Since then, the Niners have reeled off four consecutive victories, including wins over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks and now the Eagles. All three teams made the playoffs last year.

The 49ers will aim to continue their recent stretch of impressive play when they host the Seahawks for their second meeting next Sunday.
