The Seahawks’ Offensive Line Must Improve
If there were any weak points for Seattle it would be their offensive line. While Russell Wilson is good at evading and creating plays, the offensive line has done a horrible job protecting Wilson.
Being a bottom barrel offensive line simply will not cut it this season. The 49ers’ pass rush is too deadly. Chandler Jones could take over games. If the Seahawks have any Super Bowl hopes their offensive line must improve. However, they did make a couple of offseason moves that would encourage improvement.
The Seahawks did draft rookie Damien Lewis out of LSU in the third round of this season’s draft. Ethan Pocic will move to center where he played well at college. However, up to this point, Pocic has struggled against NFL competition. The Seahawks’ offensive line must improve if they are going to win a Super Bowl. Hopefully, those small changes are enough to take this sub-par offensive line to at least an average one.
Besides the quarterback position, a strong offensive line is the lifeblood of the offense. A strong offensive line can add so much to an offense, while a weak o-line limits the potential of the offense. The Seahawks are lucky they have Wilson under center or their offense could be a nightmare.
Wilson is one of the best QB at making plays where there is little to work with. The Seahawks don’t need to be the same caliber as the Colts, Cowboys, or Ravens upfront. They just need to be serviceable instead of a detriment. If the offensive line can do that, the Seahawks have a shot at the Super Bowl.
