Seahawks: Why Josh Gordon is worth the risk for Seattle if cleared

Upgrade Over Phillip Dorsett

During his final season with the New England Patriots, there were moments when Tom Brady was clearly frustrated with the team’s receivers in 2019. Brady was seen yelling from the bench during their 28-22 to the Houston Texans directed at what appeared to be Dorsett.

If a player who is in his third year with a team is still having problems with miscommunication and execution with a quarterback widely considered the greatest of all-time with a legendary head coach…that doesn’t bode well for the player.

The Seattle Seahawks didn’t have many options in free agency and turned to Dorsett, signing him to a one-year deal. The intent was for him to fill the No. 3 role most likely as a speedy deep threat that can stretch the field for the rest of the offense.

There is clearly a far more dynamic element brought to the table by Josh Gordon and would be a clear upgrade over Dorsett. Gordon can do everything Dorsett can at a higher level and is five inches taller, making it easier to connect considering the disparity in catch radius.
