Established Familiarity with Seahawks
By signing Josh Gordon, the Seattle Seahawks would already know what they’d be getting into since they’ve already done it before. Having that established familiarity could help the organization be in a better position to help Gordon be successful.
This offseason has been unique considering the strange circumstances brought by Covid-19. The NFL is set on rolling out training camp like usual, but regardless, it helps to have players that already have an understanding and familiarity with the system.
It certainly doesn’t hurt that franchise-quarterback Russell Wilson has expressed his desire for Gordon to return to the Seahawks in the future. Having that kind of endorsement goes a long way as it did with Antonio Brown and the New England due to Tom Brady.
It’s also a low-risk move considering the Seahawks could make a potential contract highly non-guaranteed. If it ends up being that Gordon simply can’t avoid a sixth suspension for whatever reason, Seattle wouldn’t be losing much as they already have solid receivers to lean on.
