The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 20-10 this past Sunday, marking the third straight week that they had held their opponent to under 20 points, and safety Jamal Adams raved about the team’s defensive potential afterward.

“It’s just attention to detail. We understand our assignments. We understand where everybody else is at on the field. Just know our job,” Adams told reporters, via Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. “We’re just feeding off one another. That just goes back to, through the week, communication. … If we keep that up, the sky’s the limit.”

Seattle currently ranks 12th in the NFL in total defense, allowing 322.2 yards per game. They are also 12th in scoring defense, giving up 19.7 points per contest.

Over the last three weeks, however, the Seahawks’ defense has been particularly unforgiving, permitting just 237 yards and 10 points per game. Seattle went 2-1 in those games, sandwiching wins over the New York Giants and Cardinals around a Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Adams just returned from injury three weeks ago. During his time on the field in 2023, he has logged 12 tackles and a pass defended.

The Seahawks initially acquired Adams in a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets back in July 2020.

Since joining Seattle, Adams has had some trouble staying on the field, as he played in a grand total of 25 games in his first three seasons with the club and has already missed four contests this year.

However, there is no denying Jamal Adams’ tremendous impact on the field when he is healthy.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Jets with the sixth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Since then, he has made three Pro Bowl appearances while also earning a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The Seahawks are 4-2 and will take on the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
