Seahawks Urged To Acquire Two-Time Super Bowl Champion

The Seattle Seahawks lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon, falling to 3-2 and missing a golden opportunity to pick up a game on the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West in the process.

While the Seahawks have been solid thus far, it’s clear that they have roster issues that need to be addressed, and their secondary in particular represents a big hole.

Seattle’s defensive backfield has been riddled with injuries this season, and the Seahawks rank just 28th in the NFL in defending the pass.

As a result, Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder lists safety and nickelback among Seattle’s greatest needs, and he recommends the club sign veteran Logan Ryan to help patch up the area.

Ryan was last seen with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, where he played nine games and registered 37 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three passes defended.

The 32-year-old has played cornerback, nickelback and safety since breaking into the league with the New England Patriots a decade ago, so he possesses versatility that the Seahawks could surely use.

Ryan, who played his collegiate football at Rutgers, was selected by the Patriots in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He spent the first four years of his career in New England, winning a pair of Super Bowl titles and establishing himself as a very reliable cornerback before joining the Tennessee Titans in 2017.

Ryan played three seasons with the Titans, with his most productive campaign coming in 2019 when he racked up 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four picks, four forced fumbles and 18 passes defended.

The Berlin, N.J. native then linked up with the New York Giants, where he primarily played safety and enjoyed moderate success for two years ahead of signing with the Buccaneers.

Seattle will host the Arizona Cardinals next weekend.
