Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a career year in 2022, his first with the team. Leaving the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes had no adverse effects on his performance, as he was just as dominant with Tua Tagovailoa, Teddy Bridgewater and Skylar Thompson.

In 2022, Hill caught 119 passes for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns. The receptions and yardage were both career highs and it is fair to assume had Tagovailoa not gotten hurt, they would have been even better.

We are seeing that in 2023, that assumption would be correct. Hill set a lofty goal for himself during the offseason, saying he wanted to become the first receiver to surpass the 2,000-yard plateau.

Through Week 13 and 12 games, he has put himself in position to accomplish that. To this point, Hill has caught 93 passes for 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is leading the league in yards, touchdowns, yards per game, scrimmage yards per touch and total yards from scrimmage.

This has the makings of a very special season for Hill, who has proven impossible for any defense to stop. More productive at home than on the road this season, he has a chance to take down multiple records as the Dolphins will be playing at Hard Rock Stadium in four out of their final five games this season.

The single-season record, which is in reach for Hill, is held by Calvin Johnson, who had 1,964 yards in 2012. According to NFL on CBS on X, formerly known as Twitter, Hill is ahead of his pace as his 1,481 yards are the most in NFL history since the merger. He is just ahead of the 1,428 Johnson had.

To put into perspective just how dominant Hill has been this season, NFL on CBS shared two more interesting tidbits. The gap between Hill and second place this season in receiving yards, CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys with 1,182, is essentially the same as between Lamb and the No. 14 Michael Pittman, who has 899.

The other eye-opening fact is Hill is producing more than some entire wide receiver groups. The entire wide receiver depth charts of the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, New York Giants, New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons don’t have as many yards as Hill this season.

We are witnessing something special with Hill on the field this season, as he is on pace to have the greatest season for a wide receiver in NFL history. There aren’t too many players, regardless of position, that have had as dominant of a season as the Dolphins star, who should garner MVP votes when it is all said and done.
