Recent NFL Rumors are that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might try to poach Bill Belichick from the New England Patriots.
It has been a tough stretch for the Buccaneers as of late. After a pretty good start to the season, the Buccaneers have lost four straight games to the Lions, Falcons, Bills, and Texans. With a 3-5 record now, the Bucs’ playoff hopes are dwindling.
In Week 10, the Buccaneers will be facing off against the Tennessee Titans, in what is a winnable game on paper. If the Bucs do lose once again, their season will likely be over and the conversation will switch to what the offseason might hold for them.
One is that the Bucs could look to be making some changes on the sidelines. Head coach Todd Bowles hasn’t done much in his time as a head coach with the New York Jets or the Bucs and is very much on the hot seat.
Recently, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio spoke about how potentially the Buccaneers could pursue Belichick this offseason.
Belichick potentially going to the Buccaneers would be very interesting, as there certainly seems to be a lot of talk that his time in New England could be coming to an end. Due to the long tenure and success in New England, it would be hard to imagine that the Patriots fired Belichick.
However, if the two sides want to keep things cordial, a trade to the Buccaneers could be an option. For Belichick, the Buccaneers do still have some good players on their roster, and even though Tom Brady isn’t there anymore, their quarterback position is in better shape than what New England currently has.
With the really poor season once again from the Patriots and the seeming failure of Belichick since Brady left, it seems like the partnership between the Patriots and Bill Belichick has to be coming to an end soon.
