The Arizona Cardinals put together a season-saving win on Sunday, topping the previously undefeated Dallas Cowboys by a score of 28-16 in a shocking performance.
However, the Cardinals are still just 1-2 on the year, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, it’s hard to envision Arizona truly contending for much of anything in 2023.
As a result, the Cardinals could ultimately shop wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. Brown is in the last year of his deal, and given Arizona’s unsettled quarterback situation heading into 2024, it’s entirely possible that he may bolt the desert in favor of a more stable offense come springtime.
Could the Cleveland Browns jump in and try to make something happen? Bleacher Report thinks so.
The Browns have gotten off to a 2-1 start thanks much in part to their dominant defense, which ranks No. 1 in the NFL through the first three weeks. Their offense has also been solid, ranking ninth in the the league.
While Cleveland already has a solid receiving corps led by Amari Cooper, it certainly wouldn’t hurt the club to add another top-end wide out like Brown.
The more weapons, the better for quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Obviously, Brown would not come cheap. The downfield burner would surely command a hefty return. Perhaps the Browns could assemble a package that includes one of either Elijah Moore or Donovan Peoples-Jones plus some draft capital?
That way, the Cardinals get a wide receiver in return as well as draft assets.
Hollywood Brown has logged 14 catches for 143 yards and a couple of touchdowns thus far. Most recently, he caught five passes for 61 yards and a score in Arizona’s Week 3 win over Dallas.
The 26-year-old spent the first three years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens before being traded to the Cardinals in April 2022.
