If the New York Giants have shown us anything over their first three games of the season, it’s that they need more help at wide receiver.
The Giants have a lot of wide outs, but they don’t have any top-level talent at the position.
While acquiring an elite receiver in the middle of season is not exactly an easy task, there may be other mid-level guys out there who can help provide some depth for New York’s aerial attack.
Take Robert Woods, for example.
Woods is in the first season of a two-year deal he signed with the Houston Texans back in the spring. The thing is, the Texans are clearly not going to be competing for much of anything this season, so he is a potential trade candidate.
Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey feels that Woods would be a fine pickup for the Giants, and it’s hard to argue.
Big Blue could send a 2024 fourth-round draft pick to Houston for Woods, which would provide Daniel Jones with a dependable target.
No, Woods is not a Pro Bowl receiver. However, he is very capable and has already logged 12 catches for 131 yards in two games this season.
The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at USC, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
He spent the first four seasons of his career in Buffalo, posting moderate results. His best year there came in 2014, when he caught 65 passes for 699 yards and five touchdowns.
Robert Woods then made his way to the Los Angeles Rams, where his career saw a significant uptick. He posted back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns for the Rams in his second and third seasons and nearly registered 1,000 yards again in 2020 (he finished with 936).
The Gardena, Ca. native spent 2022 with the Tennessee Titans, finishing with 53 catches for 527 yards and a couple of scores.
