This Packers-Saints Trade Sends WR Jarvis Landry To Green Bay

Jarvis Landry, Packers, Saints

The Green Bay Packers need a pick-me-up. They are riding a three-game losing streak and losing ground in the NFC North divisional race on a weekly basis as the Minnesota Vikings are 5-1 on the season. Their offensive performance is a big reason for the team’s lack of success over the last few weeks. Could a trade with the New Orleans Saints be on the horizon?

Green Bay lost a lot of talent at the wide receiver position this offseason as Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders and Marquez Valdes-Scantling signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Those are some big shoes to fill and thus far the Packers have been unable to find anyone capable of stepping up on a consistent basis.

Despite having Aaron Rodgers under center, this offense has been inconsistent all season. Wide receiver remains their most glaring need and if they want to get back into the conversation as contenders, a move needs to be made.

Over at Bleacher Report, a suggested trade target for the Packers is Jarvis Landry of the New Orleans Saints. Landry signed a one-year deal with New Orleans with a base salary of $3 million and could be worth up to $6 million.

However, he has been dealing with an ankle injury the last few weeks and in that time has seemingly been passed over by others on the depth chart. If that is the case, the Packers should check into his availability.

Landry struggled to find a landing spot this offseason but he showed that he still has something left in the tank to offer when healthy. In Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons, Landry caught seven passes for 114 yards.

Green Bay is desperate for help and adding a veteran that can still play would fit the bill. Beyond what he brings to the field, Landry could also be a bonus when it comes to trying to lure Odell Beckham Jr. to the team. The LSU alums have a great relationship and loved playing together with the Cleveland Browns.

To land Landry, it was suggested that the Packers trade a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Saints. That is certainly a price that Green Bay should not hesitate to meet as Landry would provide the team with the kind of upgrade they are seeking at the wide receiver position.
