Trevor Lawrence Doesn’t Hold Back On Jaguars’ Second-Half Collapse

Earlier in the season, Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars not only looked like they would cruise to an AFC South division title, but they also resembled legitimate contenders.

After all, the Jaguars were 8-3 and boasted some rather impressive wins on their resume.

But now, here we are going into the playoffs, and Jacksonville isn’t a part of them.

The Jags lost their season finale to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, ruining their chances of making the postseason and completely a rather incomprehensible second-half collapse in the process.

Afterward, Lawrence was understandably dejected.

“The words now don’t really mean much,” Lawrence said, via John Oehser of the Jaguars’ official team website. “It’s fresh, and everyone’s going to deal with this in their own way.”

Lawrence, who went into Week 18 dealing with a shoulder injury, went 29-for-43 with 280 yards, a couple of touchdowns and a pair of interceptions against the Titans in what somewhat appropriately capped what was a thoroughly disappointing campaign for the third-year quarterback.

“You should, everybody does, but you should feel sick, you should feel disappointed and frustrated in yourself, in the offensive, the team. Everything,” added Lawrence. “You put in so much work. Coming in here, (if) we win, we make the playoffs. We have a home playoff game. And we are leaving here, we’re going home, and we’re done. We all understand where we’re at and how disappointing it is, the finish we had this year. We have to be better.”

Funny enough, Jacksonville ended last season by ripping off five straight wins to shockingly win the AFC South. It then rallied back from a 27-0 deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

No such magic will be occurring in Duval this year.

“It hurts to not be able to finish and you look at where we were at one point in the season and just finished really, really poorly,” concluded Lawrence. “We kind of gave it away.”

Now, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars will have all offseason to wonder what went wrong.
