2. Familiarity
Kirk Cousins entered the league as a backup quarterback. Even when he was named the starter in Washington, his situation lacked stability. Cousins played under the franchise tag two years in a row for Washington. He spoke out in favor of the one year deals, but it has to be a different feeling to have some stability.
This, along with familiarity, can help Cousins take the next step. This will be his third year in Minnesota. He has had plenty of time to learn the offense and it looks as though he is comfortable. Cousins threw just six interceptions in 2019, the fewest in his years as a starter. He has turned into a true leader for the Vikings.
Kevin Stefanski is now the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. This means that the Vikings will have a new offensive coordinator in Gary Kubiak. He joined the Vikings as an offensive advisor last season.
Kubiak has a history of being a strong offensive coach. He will work well with Cousins as they both try to take this offense to a championship level.
