With the 2023 NFL season coming up quickly, the Minnesota Vikings are going to be a very interesting team to watch. They have made a ton of sizable moves this offseason and look very different than they did in 2022. One of their bigger additions was drafting wide receiver Jordan Addison in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Losing both Adam Thielen and Dalvin Cook were two of the bigger subtractions of the offseason. Both guys were huge pieces of the Vikings’ offense over the last couple of years. Other players will need to step up in a big way to fill the void they left.
One of those players is Addison, who will immediately step in as the Vikings’ No. 2 option behind Justin Jefferson. Kirk Cousins will need his young wide receiver to play a big role right off the bat.
Addison did not hold back when talking about whether or not he will be able to fill the shoes left by Thielen.
“I ain’t going to get into it too much, comparing. I just know what I can do. I’m confident, and I am going to fill his shoes.”
That quote sets the bar very high for the rookie wide receiver. However, there is no question that Addison has the talent and ability to live up to the hype.
During the 2022 college football season with USC, Addison racked up 59 receptions for 875 yards and eight touchdowns. The season before, he caught 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Those numbers show exactly why the Vikings wanted Addison and why he is so confident. Being able to play off of a talent like Jefferson will be a major bonus for the young wideout as well.
Expect to see Jordan Addison come in and make a major impact for the Vikings right away. He has extreme talent and skill and should be able to fill the role left by Thielen, whether that be this season or next year. Minnesota got themselves a good one with the No. 23 overall pick.
