It appears highly likely that the Chicago Bears will opt for former USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Beyond that selection, uncertainty looms over which prospects will be chosen in the opening round of the 2024 draft. Many have been speculating about who the Washington Commanders will take with the No. 2 overall pick.
There are indications that former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is emerging as the frontrunner, as per insights shared by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, cited via Dov Kleiman on Twitter.
Washington is ushering in a new era with the appointment of Dan Quinn as the team’s head coach earlier this year. In recent weeks, the Commanders have undergone significant roster changes, including trading quarterback Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks.
Howell, who started all 17 games for Washington last season, leaving and the acquisition of veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota in free agency this offseason suggest that the team is inclined towards selecting one of the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft.
According to Breer’s latest information, Daniels stands a strong chance of being chosen when the Commanders make their first pick in April’s NFL Draft.
The question now arises: Can the former LSU quarterback contribute to the Washington Commanders’ resurgence as a successful franchise, or will he merely join the list of disappointing quarterbacks to have donned the Commanders’ jersey?
