Why Purdue tight end Brycen Hopkins and the Packers would be a great fit

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

Hopkins shot up draft boards with his outstanding performance this past season. The Purdue tight end hauled in 61 receptions for 830 yards and seven touchdowns, all career bests for his collegiate career.

In Purdue’s pro style offense, Hopkins ran a variety of different routes, which should help him transition at the next level. He showed very impressive ball skills when tracking down balls as well.

He’s everything you could want in a rookie tight end, with plenty of room for growth. He’s not necessarily the best blocking tight end, but that’s something that can be learned with time and the right coaching.

Rodgers didn’t throw much to his tight ends last season, mostly because they had trouble getting open. Hopkins has proven route running ability and would surely be an upgrade over what the Pack currently have at the position.

Look for Hopkins when the Packers are on the clock in this upcoming draft.
