The New Orleans Saints are heading into a pivotal 2020 season that very well could be the last of Drew Brees’ career. With Jadeveon Clowney still available in free agency, they could add one last major piece to maximize their title odds.
Based on the current landscape, the best offer Clowney has received in free agency was from the Cleveland Browns but he didn’t accept it. He hasn’t quite received the right offer from an attractive enough landing spot and the offseason surgery to repair a sports hernia may have lowered his value.
Clowney may end up needing to sign a one-year deal for less money if he wants to play for a contender. If he were to go down that route, a team like the Saints would be a very logical fit for him. There aren’t many legitimate contenders that aren’t completely tapped out financially.
Last season, Clowney appeared in 13 games (11 starts) and totaled 31 combined tackles (seven for loss), three sacks, 13 QB hits, and four forced fumbles. He played a pivotal role for the Seattle Seahawks when he was on the field.
With that being said, here are three reasons Jadeveon Clowney should consider signing with the New Orleans Saints.
