Ranking the top five receiving corps entering the 2020 NFL season

It’s safe to say the NFL is steadily evolving into a pass-oriented league, with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs thriving as the reigning Super Bowl champions. With NFL offenses ever-changing and adapting to today’s league, more teams are building a wide variety of pass-catching groups.

In the early 2000s, most teams may have tried to find one good No. 1 wide receiver and that would suffice. Of course, the ‘Greatest Show on Turf’ St. Louis Rams (now Los Angeles Rams) were once an exception with guys like Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, and Az-Zahir Hakim.

Fast forward to now and it’s the norm for a team to have at least two capable receivers to keep the aerial attack churning. If anything, it’s unorthodox — or negligent — for a team to rely on just one wide receiver in an offense.

When discussing receiving corps in today’s NFL, it’s probably wise to consider tight ends as well. Taking that into consideration, some teams that fell just short of making this list were the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, and the Detroit Lions. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top five receiving corps entering the 2020 NFL season.
