Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been under fire in recent weeks as a result of a couple of miserable performances over his last two games, but there may be hope.
The IKE Packers Podcast posted an encouraging stat for Green Bay fans this week, noting that the Packers are actually averaging more points per game through their first five games of this season under Love (22.6) than they did last year at this time with Aaron Rodgers under center (21.8).
Of course, that number is not exactly going to do much for most of the Green Bay faithful.
While Rodgers put together a Hall of Fame-caliber career during his run with the Packers, leading the club to a Super Bowl win during the 2010-11 campaign, Love has yet to prove he can even hold down a starting job.
Love did get off to a solid start in 2023, winning two of his first three games and orchestrating a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
During those three contests, Love threw seven touchdowns and one interception, and while there were some growing pains, the 24-year-old was flashing considerable arm talent.
However, over the last two games, the narrative on Love has changed.
The Utah State product has thrown just one touchdown and five picks in a pair of Packers losses, most recently falling to the Las Vegas Raiders in a listless 17-13 effort back in Week 5.
Green Bay has had some time to regroup, as it had a bye in Week 6, but it remains to be seen how Love looks the rest of the way.
The good news is that Love and the Packers will be taking on the struggling Denver Broncos in Week 7, so they will have a great opportunity to get back in the win column.
On the season overall, Jordan Love has thrown for 1,083 yards while completing 55.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 77.3.
