O.J. Howard
Prior to the 2019 trade deadline, there were rumors that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could move on from O.J. Howard. With Bruce Arians taking over in Tampa Bay, everyone knew that Howard’s usage in the offense was going to decline.
In the end, the Buccaneers decided to keep Howard despite multiple teams making offers for his services. Even though they kept him on the roster, the Buccaneers could reopen discussions to send Howard elsewhere.
The Redskins are heading into the 2020 season with Vernon Davis having already retired and Jordan Reed’s future with the team being classified as unknown. Given the current state of Washington’s tight end position, it wouldn’t hurt to give Tampa Bay a call for Howard.
Adding Howard to the offense would give Haskins (or whoever is starting) a security blanket at tight end. At the same time, Howard would give the Redskins an offensive weapon that isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty as a blocker in the rushing attack.
