Sean Payton Can Offer Dak Prescott Proven High-Level Coaching

Sean Payton and Drew Brees have had a productive marriage since 2006, and the Saints’ offense has remained very good even as Brees’ physical skills have eroded. That’s a credit to Payton, with a hat-tip to long-time offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael.

Payton’s usage of Taysom Hill shows he’s an outside the box thinker if it means putting the best 11 on the field no matter what.

Dak Prescott’s first head coach in Dallas, Jason Garrett, was not on that level. New Cowboys’ head coach Mike McCarthy’s offense got stagnant in Green Bay, and while Kellen Moore will keep calling plays he has a lot to prove as an offensive coordinator.

Even if Prescott has another good season in 2020, it will be worth wondering if he has another level in him. A more advanced offensive mind might be what it takes to unlock it.
