Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has come under fire at times during the 2023 season for his performance and rightfully so. There have been times this season that his aggressive nature has cost the team some victories as he was turning the ball over at an alarming rate.
While the turnovers certainly didn’t help the Bills’ cause, they win and lose as a team. For some of the shortcomings he has had, there have also been moments of brilliance where he has put the team in a position to be victorious when they otherwise would not have been.
Heading into their Week 13 bye, the Bills are 6-6 with their playoff hopes hanging on by a thread. They have had some inexcusable losses that could have easily been won with a little better execution and ball security.
Super Bowl favorites coming into the season, Buffalo has their work cut out for them. Out of the bye, they will go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs before hosting the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15.
NFL News & Rumors: Josh Allen & Buffalo Bills Updates
They will need Allen playing at a high level if they want to win those games against two strong teams. More often than not this season, he has risen to the occasion, as three stats show just how dominant he has been at points.
As shared by Doug Clawson of CBS Sports via Troy Perl on X, formerly known as Twitter, Allen is on pace for the most combined touchdowns in a season without a playoff appearance with 46. He is also on pace to become the first player in NFL history to throw for 4,000+ yards with 30 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns. Last, but not least, he needs six more touchdowns to have the most by any quarterback in a four-year span.
There are a few games Allen would certainly love to have back, such as the Bills Week 1 loss to the New York Jets in overtime, that would have changed the season’s outlook. But, those results cannot be altered. He and the rest of the team need to focus on the task at hand for the remainder of the season otherwise their Super Bowl aspirations are going out the window.
