3 late free agency targets the 49ers should pursue

Giants, Markus Golden

Its clear defense sets the tone for the San Francisco 49ers and adding an edge rusher like Markus Golden would only add to its potential impact. There currently is a lack of depth behind Dee Ford and signing Golden would address that potential concern.

Golden managed to take the step step as a player during his lone season for the New York Giants. He recorded double-figure sack totals and managed to quadruple his figure from his final season with the Arizona Cardinals. He has proven his value as a pass rusher and could thrive with a contender.

It would be a win-win for the 49ers and Golden to have a one-year arrangement where Golden can play in a situational pass rusher role as the foundation of his impact. San Francisco would be able to get creative with its pass rush while having a contingency in case of injury.
