The cornerback position isn’t a pressing need for the San Francisco 49ers but could use an established veteran in the mix. The current landscape of this position is that Richard Sherman is an established veteran but the projected starter opposite of him is Emmanuel Moseley, who has nine career starts.

It would be wise to add a veteran like Aqib Talib into the mix considering the goal is to win a Super Bowl. Outside of Sherman and K’Waun Williams, the 49ers’ other cornerback options are underwhelming. Add another talent wouldn’t hurt considering an injury at this spot would be very difficult to overcome.

It’s difficult to envision Talib not being intrigued by the opportunity to play for a legitimate Super Bowl contender in a needed role. At the very least, it could help him to re-establish his value entering into next offseason for a high-level team if he can stay healthy.
