Eight Wins
The Dolphins went 5-11 last season while bouncing between Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen. The team also didn’t have a true top running back since the franchise traded Kenyan Drake to Arizona.
While fans often underestimate Fitzpatrick, Tua Tagovailoa should be a better quarterback than his veteran mentor. The former National Champion flashed eye-popping potential at Alabama that will hopefully translate to the NFL.
Now that the Dolphins added Matt Breida and Jordan Howard to the backfield, Miami’s offense is no longer one-dimensional. Unlike last season, Miami’s quarterback doesn’t have to shoulder the offense by himself.
Tagovailoa also benefits from DeVante Parker’s 2019 breakout campaign. After four seasons of mediocrity, Parker recorded 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns this past season.
Miami also fixed its offensive line this offseason. Fitzpatrick took 40 sacks in 2019 while Rosen took 16. To counteract their poor pass blocking, the Dolphins signed Ereck Flowers and Ted Karras in free agency. The team also used the 18th overall pick on left tackle Austin Jackson.
The team’s additions on offense alone should boost Miami’s win total this season. However, the Dolphins added plenty of starters on defense as well.
With an improved supporting cast and defense, Tagovailoa should lead the Dolphins to eight wins in 2020.
