3. Lane Taylor
There is a clear need for the Saints to solidify their offensive line, particularly at the left guard spot. They are currently expected to have Nick Easton as their starting left guard and that’s not sufficient for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
It would be a real risk to trust a rookie to step in from day one and be ready to hit the ground running as a starting left guard. That’s why attempting to acquire a veteran that could be a cap casualty like Lane Taylor from the Green Bay Packers makes sense for the Saints.
While Taylor is coming off a torn left biceps muscle injury, he is a solid left guard that could be inserted into the Saints’ starting group. This would help to sort out some of their other roster needs by getting this issue resolved before getting too deep into the offseason.
The Packers could end up moving on from Lane Taylor given they could try to free up salary cap space and Elgton Jenkins is a real competitor for the starting role. Looking to capitalize on these circumstances is ideal for the Saints.
