3 Suitors For Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown In NFL Free Agency

There is speculation surrounding the true impact of soon to be NFL free agent wide receiver Marquise Brown’s speed on the field, as it’s contingent on various factors beyond raw velocity.

These factors include the quality of the quarterback, Brown’s ability to maintain his health, and his capacity to create separation from defenders. Despite his potential, Brown’s track record reveals mixed results, with just one 1,000-yard season and sporadic availability over five seasons split between the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals.

During his tenure with the Cardinals, Brown managed to accumulate 1,283 yards and seven touchdowns over the last two seasons. However, he hasn’t surpassed the 100-yard mark in a single game since Week 3 of the 2022 season, signaling a decline in his impact on the field.

Although Brown may find himself on his third NFL team soon, his skill set could attract franchises in need of wide receiver depth. Should the Cardinals opt not to retain him, potential suitors must navigate the market judiciously to avoid overpaying for a player whose recent performance hasn’t lived up to expectations.

Let’s explore three NFL teams that could emerge as contenders for Brown’s services in the upcoming free agency period.

Tennessee Titans

Similar to the Cardinals, the Titans are in a transitional phase, seeking to rebuild their roster. Last season, they struggled to generate consistent passing offense, with only seven games of 200+ passing yards in 17 outings.

Beyond DeAndre Hopkins, the receiving corps lacked impact, with Treylon Burks managing just 221 receiving yards in nine games. Bringing Brown on board could inject much-needed speed into the Titans’ offense, potentially complementing Hopkins and aiding in the development of quarterback Will Levis.

Carolina Panthers

Under new head coach Dave Canales, the Panthers aim to bolster the confidence of their young quarterback, Bryce Young. Surrounding Young with reliable offensive weapons is paramount to his development.

With an underwhelming receiving corps led by Adam Thielen, the Panthers could benefit from Brown’s presence to provide a much-needed boost. While Carolina might have to pay a premium for Brown’s services, it would address a critical position on the team.

Kansas City Chiefs

As a perennial contender, the Chiefs remain an attractive destination for free agents. Despite a lackluster offensive showing last season, the Chiefs still managed to secure their third championship under Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid.

Marquise Brown could receive an offer from the Chiefs for a one-year “prove-it” deal, allowing him to showcase his talents before hitting free agency again in 2025. With Mahomes at the helm, the Chiefs have a proven track record of maximizing the potential of their offensive weapons, making them an enticing option for Brown.
