3 things the Green Bay Packers must focus on this offseason

3. The Defense Has To Become More Consistent

This point doesn’t necessarily mean that the Packers have to go out and spend money on free agents to improve. They have a ton of talent on the defensive side of the football. It does, however, mean that Mike Pettine needs to be better.

More athleticism could be a target at the linebacker position this offseason. Blake Martinez is a tackle machine, but he had a lot of trouble playing sideline to sideline. Spending some money or a draft pick on an inside linebacker would make a ton of sense.

Pettine was brought back despite there being rumors that he could be on the hot seat. There is no question that he knows how to coordinate an elite defense, but it’s time to prove it.

If the Packers’ defense becomes consistently a top-10 unit, Green Bay could be on their way to Super Bowl contention again in 2020.
