4 bold offseason predictions for the Tennessee Titans

Tennessee won’t use their franchise tag on Ryan Tannehill or Derrick Henry

On Thursday, teams were given the opportunity to begin utilizing the franchise tag on players. Most teams that are unable to get a long-term deal with a player, tend to use the franchise tag to keep the player for at least another year.

Just like the other teams in the league, the Titans will have until March 12 to decipher whether or not to use their franchise tag. It has been well-documented that either Tannehill or Henry could be the recipient of the aforementioned franchise tag.

Despite the likeliness that one of them receives it, neither Tannehill or Henry will get the tag placed on them. Instead, the Titans will get deals done with both of them to keep them in Tennessee beyond 2020.

With the current state of the quarterback market, it’s possible that Tannehill garners anywhere between $20-30 million. As for Henry, he could come close to becoming the highest-paid running back in the NFL after a career year in 2019.

So far this offseason, Mike Vrabel has been mum on what the Titans plan to do with Tannehill and Henry. But after they communicate with both players, they’ll get new contracts in place for both of them.
