4. The Jets’ Offense is a Mess
The supporting cast the Jets have around Darnold is truly underwhelming, and quite frankly, it’s unacceptable. Granted, injuries to some key receivers and Le’Veon Bell have further depleted New York’s depth chart, but regardless, the talent level was already a concern, to begin with.
The Jets’ passing game was limited to just 277 total yards of offense and 13 points. New York came up empty on both trips they made to the red-zone and failed to convert in either of their two 4th down conversion attempts.
It’s difficult to place too strong of a measure on the Jets’ initial two performances when considering their offense had to go up against two highly effective defenses. Regardless, there will need to be improvement displayed at some point in the very near future.
For the Jets’ offense, it won’t get much easier in Week 3. New York will have to go up against a Colts defense that essentially shut down the Vikings — causing Kirk Cousins to have an absolutely terrible performance.
