4. Matt Gesicki’s Stock is Rapidly Rising
During the rebuilding process, there is plenty of opportunities for young players to showcase their potential and become a member of the team’s core. For the Dolphins, Matt Gesicki — the team’s second-round pick from the 2018 NFL Draft — is receiving that chance at tight end.
There wasn’t a member of the Dolphins that managed to finish with more receptions (eight), receiving yards (130), or receiving touchdowns (one) than Gesicki in this matchup. He has quickly become a go-to option for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Gesicki has emerged as the Dolphins’ full-time starting tight end and is on course to blow past his previous single-season best production that he set in 2019. Last season, he started in five of the 16 games he appeared in and recorded 51 receptions, 570 yards, and five touchdowns.
Whenever Tua Tagovailoa is inserted into the lineup for the Dolphins, he will not only have an effective wide receiver duo in DeVante Parker and Parker Williams to throw to. He will also have a reliable tight end in Gesicki to rely on throughout games.
