Malcolm Brown is a Real Deal Running Back
Rams running back Malcolm Brown finished the game with 18 carries for 79 yards with two touchdown rushes. Brown averaged 4.4 yards per carry, and not only that he set the pace against the Cowboys defense. Brown came to play, and his runs brutalized the Dallas defensive line and front seven as a whole.
With the help of the Los Angeles offensive line and run blocking schemes, Brown and his teammates controlled the line of scrimmage for a majority of the game, keeping the Cowboys offense off the field and their own defense fresh.
Brown also had three receptions for 31 yards, including an 18-yard gain, so he was a huge part of the Rams offense multiple ways as he replaced Todd Gurley — now with the Atlanta Falcons — as the main running back on the depth chart.
Los Angeles had possession of the ball for 35:38 compared to the Cowboys offense being on the field for 24:22. It was evident the Rams were the better team in Week 1 and came to play a stronger style of rushing the ball to keep the Cowboys offense off the field, and it worked.
