Minnesota Needs To Ride Their Running Game More
To begin the game, the Vikings appeared ready to run the ball down the Packers’ throats. However, they got away from that game plan and it hurt them in a big way.
Dalvin Cook ended the game with 12 carries for 50 yards and two scores. His backup, Alexander Mattison, carried the ball six times for 50 yards himself. Cousins even ended up recording 34 yards on the ground.
Minnesota needs to continue running the football. They averaged 6.1 yards per carry, but only ran the ball a total of 22 times. Granted, the Packers dominated time of possession, but the Vikings should have run the ball more.
Kenny Clark, the Packers’ star defensive tackle, even went down and the Vikings did not take advantage of that. Cook is one of the best running backs in the NFL and the Vikings need to make sure that they utilize him more moving forward.
